Well, fellow Night fans, one of the upsides of Lady in the Water grossing only $42.2 million at the domestic box office is that we're treated to a (somewhat) early DVD release.
Yes, that's right, the fairy tale is available for purchase less than 5 months after its initial release. Special features include deleted scenes, a featurette titled "Lady in the Water: A Bedtime Story," a 6-part documentary, audition footage, and a gag reel.
Alas, continuing a disappointing tradition, M. Night Shyamalan neglects to provide us with a director's commentary of the film. I'd hoped that, in another positive side-efect of the film's critical and commercial shortcomings, that Night would feel compelled to explain his most unconventional film to date with such a commentary, but apparently he did not.
Still, the other features sound promising, and the film's breathtaking cinematography will surely translate well. Check back next week for a review of the DVD and its extras. Until then...
