Zooey Deschanel, known for her roles in Failure to Launch, Bridge to Terabithia, and her breakthrough performance in Elf, has been cast in M. Night Shyamalan's The Happening.

Deschanel, an up-and-coming star in Hollywood, will star along side Mark Wahlberg, who was cast in late March.
