Weekend actuals are in, and Lady in the Water grossed just over $18 million over the July 21st - July 23rd weekend, earning it just third place nationwide in its debut.

Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest took first place for the third consecutive weekend with $35.2 million, and fellow newcomber Monster House took in $22.2 million for second place over the frame.

A poor critical reaction certainly didn't help, and the road ahead looks rough for Lady, which might struggle to reach so much as $50 million in domestic gross.
